STATEMENT On Deadliest Weekend Of 2021 (So Far)

54 Shot, 12 Dead, Including 15-Year-Old Dajon Gater In Lead Up To Historically Deadly Memorial Day Weekend

SPRINGFIELD — After the deadliest weekend in Chicago so far this year — 54 shot and 12 dead, including 15-year-old Dajon Gater — Gun Violence Prevention PAC (G-PAC) Illinois issued the following statement:

“Following the deadliest weekend of the year so far — 54 people shot and 12 killed, including 15-year-old Dajon Gater — and more evidence showing gun violence is an equity issue, lawmakers have no excuse for inaction this session,” said Kathleen Sances, President of Gun Violence Prevention PAC Illinois. “Every day more illegal guns enter Illinois communities and as we head into the traditionally deadly Memorial Day Weekend legislators must pass the Block Illegal Ownership And Fix The FOID Bill (HB1091) now to curb the violence — our children have already waited two years and cannot stand by any longer.”

Gun Violence Prevention PAC (G-PAC) Illinois is a campaign to save lives by stopping the tragic epidemic of gun violence.
